In light of my class reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn so near to Valentine's Day, I decided to make a Valentine from   the Widow to Huck. The poem on my valentine states: "Roses are red, voliets are blue, I wish I had civilized you." It reads this because if the Widow had civilized Huck then none of the bad situations Huck and Jim got into would of happened. If she had civilized Huck successfully he would have returned home after escaping his father's house and never gone to Jackson Island. Then he never would have run into Jim and would have stayed safe and sound in St. Petersburg. But this poem also  shows a touch of irony because in a way. By the end of the novel Huck is a much more civilized character because he has become senstive and aware to the fact that slaves are people with emotions as well. One example of this is when Jim is talking about his  deaf and dumb daughter. This is something that not even the Widow herself understands or realizes. So really in some ways Huck is more civilized than the Widow by the end of the novel.
