Little Butterfly
Gross and slimy like a dead snake skin, it traps you
inside.
You beautiful butterfly
with magnificent wings ready to
open and soar.
But you are held back by
the remorse of
things done before,
weighed down and
suffocating from
unforgiven
deeds.
Then your cocoon cracks and you take that first breath,
sharp and hungry.
You have been forgiven.
At first your wings are
wet and heavy
but soon they are
light and vibrant,
practically glowing as
you soar above the clouds as light as your conscious.
Statement of Purpose:
Mostly I tried to have my line breaks flow better in this piece. I also worked on ideas, making sure that the idea of forgiveness was clear.
